National Coding Week - P5
This is an annual event that aims to promote the importance of learning digital skills.
Children participated in Computational Thinking tasks without the use of technology, using language of coding - instructions, code, algorithms, etc. In groups, they drew grids on the playground with chalk, then allocated roles within the group, mover, guider and code recorder. They took turns ‘guiding’ a friend through the maze, avoiding ‘obstacles’. They used positional language and recorded ‘code’ in chalk on the playground. In class, they used the joystick app on the iPads to move the spheros. They experimented with position, direction, speed and even changing the colour of their spheros.
