Last month P6&7 visited Down Museum in relation to our World War II topic, to learn about Edith Jacobowitz and her brother Gert, Jewish evacuees who came from Germany on the Kindertransport during World War II, to live in Millisle, Co Down. Edith had kept a diary which documented her stay while over here. We got to learn about Edith and hoe she became a nurse and how Gert stayed and married in Ireland. It was very interesting and gave us an insight into how children coped being separated from their families.
